Over the weekend at a Texas-based Heritage Auction, Action Comics #1 went on sale and was sold for $6 million beating its previous record in 2022 when it was sold for a then-record $5.3 million.

In case you are wondering why Action Comic #1 is going for that amount, it’s because Action Comics #1 was the first time the whole wide world was introduced to the man of steel, Superman. Action Comics #1 was published on April 18, 1938, and had a cover date of June of 1938 and was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Little did anyone know, Superman would go on and become one of the foundations alongside Batman and Wonder Woman to DC Comics and set the bar high for every other comic book superhero to come for years to come and of course the Golden Age of comics as well.

A fun fact about Action Comic #1 is that out of the 200,000 copies that were printed back in 1938, only 100 are left today and out of the 100, 78 of them are good enough to be sold or auctioned off, and this fun fact is brought to you by Certified Guaranty Company or CGC for short.
