Cartoon Network was 2 years old when 1994 came around and they did something bold and interesting that would later be the foundation to what we know as Adult Swim and it was a little series called Space Ghost Coast to Coast and it turns 30.

The series was created by Mike Lazzo and was based on the original Saturday morning cartoon series that ran from 1966 to 1967 and was created by Alex Toth and was produced and directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Coast to Coast was a late-night talk show in which Space Ghost is the host and had live-action guest starts, who he believed to be other famous superheroes.

The main cast of the series was Space Ghost, Zorak, a mantis-like alien is the bandleader and sidekick to Space Ghost, and Moltar, a lava monster who wears a full-body containment suit, is the show director and producer. The series would have a funny supporting cast of characters and out of the cast, the world would fall in love with Bark and Harvey Birdman. Bark would go on to co-host Cartoon Planet with Zork and have his show, The Brak Show. Harvey Birdman would go on to star in his series entitled Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law.

Space Ghost Coast to Coast would go on to be the blueprint for many other shows of its kind. The series ran on Cartoon Network from 1994 till 2001 until the birth of Adult Swim, a mini network within Cartoon Network that showed programs for adults at late night hours. Once Adult Swim came to air in 2001 Space Ghost Coast to Coast was moved over there till the series said goodbye in 2004.

Space Ghost Coast to Coast is one of those shows you need to watch and see how much of a trailblazer it was when it came out and is making a mini-comeback in the show Jellystone with the rest of his cast as well. You can watch episodes of Space Ghost Coast to Coast on Adult Swim.
