The Freak Brothers Season 1 Review

After downloading Tubi, I noticed that Tubi was making original programming. One program got my attention: The Freak Brothers. This series stars Woody Harrelson, John Goodman, Pete Davidson, and Tiffany Haddish.

This is not a bad show. Based on the underground comic The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers (1971-1997), the plot is how stoners Freewheelin’ Franklin Freek (Harrelson), Fat Freddy Freekowtski (Goodman), Fat Freddy’s pet cat Kitty (Haddish), and Phineas T. Phreakears (Davidson) smoked some special weed that “blasts” them from 1969 to 2020 and try to adjust to modern times with hilarious results.

Like the original comic, the Freaks are a counter-culture group against the foils of our modern time. Book clubs, Amazon, old characters from the comics (e.g. Norbert the Nark), and modern culture are not spared as the boys try to stay high and optimistic.

So far, this show was released on November 14, 2021, with 8 episodes. We won’t know if there is a second season but hopefully, there will be. You can download Tubi for free and view it for yourself! It doesn’t hurt to get high once in a while.
