Ahoy Captain Cats here and today I’m going to review the whole season of one of the oddest yet funny anime series of 2019 and that series is Kemono Michi: Rise Up.

The anime series is based on the manga series, which is created by Natsume Akatsuki and started its run from November 2016 and is still in its current run with a total of 6 volumes to date so far. The plot of the series is about a famous pro wrestler Genzo Shibata, who is known in the wrestling world as Animal Mask, during the night of the world title match he disappears during that match and arrives in a fantasy world. He is asked by a princess who summons him to defeat the evil beast that roams the land, he said no and gives her a German suplex because Shibata is an animal lover. From here he meets the half-human half-wolf Shigure and they become “partners” so Shibata can live his life long dream, which is to be a pet shop owner. From here on out the series go on a trip to the odd yet funny path in which we see many different characters and animals, a few odd rivals and lots and lots of wrestling and funny moments.

The series is was even promoted by DDT, a Japanese Pro Wrestling Organization that is very very unique in its own right. In case you are wondering what DDT stands for, its Dramatic Dream Team and their matches are one of a kind and I do mean one of a kind.

The anime series stands out for being different in all the right ways and it may not be one of the best to have graced your TV, it will be a series that will make you laugh and remind you that slapstick comedy and having a nonsense story can work if done right.
