Everyone once in a while the mainstream comic world can be a bit boring and at times just only have that one good book but it is surrounded by lots of useless events and spin-offs, it makes me glad to find these little gems of comics like Noir Burlesque.

Noir Burlesque is a noir story from beginning to end that is set in the 1950s with a simple storyline that is done very well. The story follows a man named Slick who ends up on the wrong side of a local mob boss and the boss’s soon-to-be wife who just so happens to be Slick’s old lover. Sure there are a lot of old classic noir tropes here and there but how the way Enrico Marini brings this story to life is breathtaking.

The story has a lot of good twists and turns that are done very well, some you can see a mile away but besides that, it is still a good story. The art on the other hand is where Noir Burlesque shines, the use of color, tone, setting, atmosphere, and his use of watercolor on every page is beautiful.

Noir Burlesque only has two books and is available via ComiXology, I would recommend hunting down and buying the physical copies of the two in any way you can. Noir Burlesque is available now.
