Purple Rain is one of the best soundtracks for a film that came out in a long time and still to this day is one of the best out there, so today we are going to look at this classic album/soundtrack that was created by Prince and the Revolution and the film as well.

The film was released on July 27, 1984, by Warner Bros with a budget of $7.2 million and earned a total of $70.3 million and it became a hit film. The film tells the story of The Kid, who is played by Prince himself, who is a very gifted but vexed frontman for the Revolution, which is played by the band themselves. We see how the kid deals with the ups and downs of trying to find success in Minneapolis as a band and also how his personal private life and his rock and roll life will affect him as well, for better and for worse.

While the film is one of four films in which Prince stared, Purple Rain is considered to be his best work and the soundtrack is the same, and a close second to the soundtrack of Purple Rain would be Under the Cherry Moon, better known as Parade. The music for Purple Rain is on a whole different level and from start to finish every song on this soundtrack is classics. With songs like “Let’s Go Crazy”, “Computer Blue”, “I Would Die 4 U”, “Baby I’m a Star”, and of course “Purple Rain”, made the film feel like we were all at a concert and in the front row seeing it live.

Go watch and listen to Purple Rain when you can, it’s a wonder film that you must see and an album/soundtrack that you must own. Also, a fun fact Prince won an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score for the film Purple Rain.
