The Summer anime season is now over and we have a winner for this year’s season and a contender for anime series of the year and that series is Undead Girl Murder Farce.

The series is based on a novel series that was created by Yugo Aosaki back in 2015 and is still going on right now as of writing this review there is a total of 4 books already published and a year later a manga adaptation of the novels became published with Aosaki at the helm with the writing and with Haruka Tomoyama doing the illustrations for the manga series.

The series takes place in an alternate 19th century where humans and supernatural creatures co-exist in one way or another. The series starts in Japan and here we are introduced to Tsugaru Shinichi, a human who was experimented on and became half-oni and has the nickname the Oni Slayer. He soon meets with an immortal woman named Aya Rindo and her loyal servant Shizuku Hasei. Aya and Tsugaru find out they have a common enemy, a foreigner with an M on a cane and Aya hires him to help her find him and something else.

The 13 episodes from start to finish were beautiful to see and hear. The animation was done by studio Lapin Track, the previous work they have done are Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, I’m Kodama Kawashiri, and the Re:cycle of Penguindrum two-part film.

Undead Girl Murde Farce is available on Crunchyroll to watch and it is worth the watch.
