Well, this came out of nowhere and it’s just what the doctor ordered! Lackadaisy is a pure joy to watch and right now is the animation series you have to watch and get behind and on the same level as Helluva Boss.

The series takes place in St Louis, Missouri 1927 and Prohibition was in full force, side note prohibition ended in the USA in 1933. We see a beautiful opening with a wonderful poem I think, about life at the time and soon we see the trio of Rocky Rickaby, Calvin “Freckel” McMurray, and Ivy Pepper, doing what they do best, getting themselves in lots of trouble while trying to be the best bootleggers on this side of the Mississippi. While things don’t go to plan for them when they get spotted by Mordecai Heller and the duo of Nicodeme and Serafine Savoy and all hell breaks loose.

After all that jazz, the trio head back to Lackadaisy, a speakeasy, and we are introduced to the lovely Mitzi May and who is the cat’s meow (had to do it.)

The animation, music, voice action, and overall cast of memorable characters here are a huge breath of fresh air and didn’t know I needed it right now but I do. Iron Circus Animation and director Fable Siegel did a wonderful job bringing this to life. For many of you who don’t know but Lackadaisy is a comic series that is created by Tracy J. Butler and if you loved what you see here is a link to the comic series.
