During the 1980’s Namco was releasing hit after hit in the arcade and in 1983 they released one of their most classic and beloved game and character and it was Mappy.

Mappy was developed and published by Namco, years before they merge with Bandai to become Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game is about a police mouse name Mappy whose job is to run around a mansion and retrieving stolen goods from the big boss cat Goro and his henchcats Mewkies.

The game is simple, but addicting in terms of how far can you go in one quarter and how good are you in this updated version of cat and mouse. The game was a big hit and became a staple of the Namco character lineup. Mappy ended up being used as a background character for many years to come but was never forgotten by many who loved this little police mouse.

This game has a special place in this captain’s heart. It was the first arcade game that I ever played and this little game made me fall in love with gaming. Over the years whenever I saw this little police mouse and company in other Namco games I would buy it and try to unlock them or unlock the game and play it for hours with pure bliss.

Thank you, Mappy for always putting a smile on my face.
