One of the few games I can say I have played and still play to this day that is not in my usual gaming diet is Smite and it turns 10 this year. This one-of-a-kind third-person MOBA(Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) is part of the big three with League of Legends and Dota2 being the other two.

The game was introduced back on May 31, 2012, with a close beta on PC only. The game was completely different from what it is now but still has its roots in its main two popular game modes, conquest, and arena. What also made Smite different was the characters in the game, instead of creating new characters, they went with the mythology route. You can play as a god or goddess from 14 different pantheons and as of now have a total of 123 gods and goddesses and counting.

The game went into open beta on January 24, 2013, and on March 25, 2014, Smite was officially released on PC. Smite would hit consoles a few years later for Xbox One in 2015, PS4 in 2016, the Switch in 2019, and lastly Amazon Luna in 2021.

I have seen this game grow since 2012, sure there were a few bumps in the road and now bad times as well (Golden Bow and Fatalis metas) but the game is still worth playing in 2023 and now is a great time to pick up Smite and stay for a spell. Smite is available on PC and consoles.
