Ahoy Captain Cats here and today some news for comic collectors.

It was reported over the weekend that the historic Marvel Comics #1 that was released back on August 31, 1939, with a grade of 9.2 by the Certified Guaranty Company (CGC for short) was sold in an auction for $2.4 million.

In case you wonder why this issue is so important, its because it was the very first comic issue that was published by Marvel Comics (at the time they were known as Timely Comics). Not only that, but this was the first issue that introduced both Namor the Sub-Mariner, and the original Human Torch.

The last time a copy of Marvel Comics #1 was sold was back in 2019 for about $1.26 million in an auction as well. While the $2.4 million sale is huge, the record for the most expensive comic book ever sold still belongs to Action Comics #1, for $3.2 million in 2014.
