Yo Ho, WeRCatz here!

Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand…

Duran Duran released their second album Rio on May 10, 1982. Even though their debut album was successful, Rio pushed Duran Duran straight to international fame and has since become the album most associated with them.

MTV helped Duran Duran with their memorable music videos. Director Russell Mulcahy reunites with the band and made music MOVIES and not videos; the movie for the song “Hungry Like The Wolf” became legendary while “Rio” displays the fun and excess of the 80s. The movie for “Save A Prayer” is spectacular for its locations.

Rio is still fresh as it was 40 years ago when it was released. Not bad for a second album! As for the cover art, it was immortalized by legendary atist and illustrator Patrick Nagel. You can’t see that woman without thinking Duran Duran and Rio.
