Ahoy Captain Cats here and today we are going to look at the return of Milestone Comics in the DC universe with Static: Season One #1 but first a mini-history lesson.

Static was created back in 1993 at Milestone Comics by the founders of Milestone Comics were Dwayne McDuffie, Denys Cowan, Michael Davis, and Derek T. Dingle. Static’s first comic series ran for 48 issues till Milestone Comics closed its doors in 1997 and 2008 DC Comics announced that they will revive and add all the characters from Milestone Comics and add them into the DC Universe. Now that’s out of the way let’s see how this series lives up to Milestone Comic legacy.

The comic starts after the events of Milestone Return: Infinite edition #0 and we see Virgil Ovid Hawkins reacting to what happened during that issue and we see how it not only affected Virgil but also his social life with his friends and his family. At the near end of this issue, we see someone who has powers and hurt Virgil and his family in a personal way.

The creative team of Vita Ayala and Chris Cross did a fantastic job with this issue. They made Virgil’s situation on dealing with his newfound powers very personal and make you think this is how a teen in his situation would react. The art here is wonderful, the background is wonderful, the storytelling is fantastic, and overall a great comic.

If you haven’t had a chance to read this, go read this and you will see how wonderful this series is going to be.
