Ahoy Captain Cats here and today we have some big news that may change the Esport scene.

According to many news sources and a press release by EVO that in a joint venture Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE for short) and RTS, a new venture from Endeavor’s Esport business has acquired both the assets and properties of EVO.

Evolution Championship Series or EVO for short is the world’s largest fighting game tournament series and players from around the world meet up and see who is the best in the world in competitive fighting games. With this announcement, it hasn’t changed the dates for this year’s EVO, which will take place on August 6-8 and 13-15, no word on where this year’s event will take place due to Covid-19.

EVO was introduced to the world back in 1996 as Battle by the Bay till changing the name in 2002. Since then it has grown to become a staple in the fighting game community and is like the video game equivalent of the FIFA World Cup Finals.
