Ahoy Captain Cats here and today some very good news for anyone who wants to break into the manga industry.

Shonen Jump announced the 100th Tezuka Manga Award with an International Department for the first time in its history, in other words, anyone from around the world can enter an international submission for a chance to win a first, second or third place prize! Here is some information for the winning:

  • 1st place – 2 million yen ($18,707 in USD), your work will be published on Weekly Shonen Jump either printed or digital and invite to the award ceremony
  • 2nd place – 1 million yen ($ 9,353 in USD), your work will be published on Weekly Shonen Jump either printed or digital and invite to the award ceremony
  • 3rd place – 500,000 yen ($ 4,679 in USD) and invite to the award ceremony

The Tezuka Manga awards will have some of the best judges and they are:

Akira Toriyama – Creator of Dragon Ball series
Eiichiro Oda – Creator of One Piece
Kazue Kato – Creator of Blue Exorcist
Kohei Horikoshi – Creator of My Hero Academia
Takehiko Inoue – Creator of Slam Dunk and Real
Tezuka Productions – Animation studio founded by The Father of Manga himself Osamu Tezuka and the contest is named after
