Ahoy Captain Cats here and today we are going to take a look at one of the greatest video games of all time that turns 40 and that game is Pac-Man.

The game was created by Toru Iwatani and Shigeichi Ishimura and was develop and published by Bandai Namco back in 1980 before Namco and Bandai merge in 2005. This classic game was in development back in 1979 before its release in the Japanese arcade back in May 1980. From its release, the game became a huge hit in Japan, and soon after it was released in the USA in December of 1980, and Pac-Man became an international hit for Namco. Pac-Man would later go on to become famous not just in the gaming community but also in pop culture as well.

Pac-Man was so beloved all over the world that over the years they made cartoon series, music hits such as Pac-Man Fever by Buckner & Garcia, Pac-Man by Weird Al Yankovic, and Pac-Man by Aphex Twin. Pac-Man was also in films, documentaries, the Guinness World Records, and was in the inaugural class of the World Video Game Hall of Fame! He also made so many cameos in other Bandai Namco games and even became a playable character in the Super Smash Bros series.
