Ahoy Captain Cats here and today we are going to review the newest Netflix film and its Dolemite Is My Name.

Dolemite Is My Name is about how Rudy Ray Moore brought life to the character of Dolemite and you see his rise to fame from stand-up, recording artist to movie star. You also see the struggle he had to endure to his rise of fame and the people he met throughout this crazy task of making the Dolemite film.

Eddie Murphy shines in this film, this was his comeback film and it was marvelous. Every time he was on screen he shines bright and reminded everyone that he hasn’t lost a step at all. The way he was Rudy then Dolemite on the fly was great and shows how smart and forward-thinking Rudy was in terms of how people should be treated and how he needed to get things done with what little he had. The supporting cast was excellent as well with the likes of Keegan-Michael Key, Mike Epps, Craig Robinson, Tituss Burgess, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Wesley Snipes, who at times almost took the spotlight from Murphy as well. Craig Brewer who directed this film did an amazing job with how the 1970s LA was and how the filming of Dolemite was like back at that time.

Dolemite Is My Name is one of the best films that came out of 2019 and this was a great way for Murphy to start his come back to the big screen.
