Akihiro Ishihara, the content producer of the successful series Uma Musume Pretty Derby franchise, has stepped down from his position and the company Cygames. According to Anime News Network he stated that the franchise has a bright future ahead of itself and he saw it was a great time to step down. Before working on Uma Musume, Ishihara work on The IDOLM@STER franchise for Bandai Namco from 2005 till January of 2016 to leave and create Uma Musume.

Kodansha announced this passed friday the winners of its 43ed annual manga award. Here is the list of this year’s winner:

  • Best Shonen Manga – The Quintessential Quintuplets by Negi Haruba and To Your Eternity by Yoshitoki Oima
  • Best Shojo Manga – Perfect World by Rie Aruga
  • Best General Manga – What Did You Eat Yesterday? By Fumi Yoshinaga
  • Special Awards – Kosaku Shima series by Kenshi Hirokane and Hajime no Ippo by George Morikawa

Sadly we have to report that manga creator Makoto Ogino passed away. It was stated by Young Jump magazine that he passed away on April 29 due to renal failure, he was 59.
