Captain Cats here with some sad news to report. The founder of Takara Toy Company, Yasuta Sato has passed away at the age of 94. Anime News Network reported that he passed away from senility, better known as dementia.

He founded the company in 1955 as TAKARA Co. but later changed the name to Takara Toy in 1967. The company hand many hit toys such as “Licca-chan” doll series and Choro-Q, better known as Penny Racers. He retired twice, once in 1994 and again in 2000.

In 2006 Takara Toy merged with Tomy to become Takara Tomy, oversea the company is known as Tomy Co. after the merger the company becomes number 2 in Japan. The company manages a lot of famous brands such as:

  • Transformers
  • Zoids
  • Duel Masters Trading Card Game
  • WIXOSS
  • Pokemon

The company also partner up syn Sophia to produce the Pretty Rhythm and other multimedia franchises.
