Yo Ho, WeRCatz here!

The supernatural comedy film Ghostbusters was released on June 8, 1984. This film would span a franchise that included a memorable cartoon series, toys, merchandise, and a few sequel films. To this day, this film wins over the hearts of fans old and new with its intelligent writing, great special effects, and an enduring story.

Believe it or not, John Belushi was supposed to be a Ghostbuster in the original script with Dan Aykroyd and hunt ghosts throughout space and time! But with Belushi’s shocking death in 1982, this script was deemed impractical to finance. Harold Ramis was hired to rewrite the script to make it more realistic and grounded. Add Bill Murray, Rick Moranis, Sigourney Weaver, and Ernie Hudson and the rest is history.

Despite the lesser success of the sequel films, Ghostbusters remains a gem of a film that still hits it off with comedic timing, visual effects, and a memorable theme song that still bangs your head. Take the time to see this film in your spare time and enjoy!
