Is Comixology Dead?

Well, it happen sooner than everyone expected. It was reported that Amazon laid off 75% of its Comixology staff this past week. According to The Comics Beat that all jobs at Comixology are gone and the layoffs will be done in three parts, the first part that just happened, the second part in June and the final part in October.

It was stated that it was part of a wider effort to lower its cost to serve and they could be right or they may use this as an excuse to maybe exit the digital comics market. Does anyone remember Jet City Comics? Ya neither does Amazon and soon who knows in time we might forget what was Comixology and how it ended up being a beacon of hope for digital comics to a sad death.
