Ahoy Captain Cats here and today we are going to review the latest comic book series getting a live-action adaptation and this time its Y: The Last Man.
The tv series is based on the comic book series of the same name that was created by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra. The series was published by Vertigo from 2002-2008 with a total of 60 issues and won three Eisner Awards.
The series is about Yorick Brown, the only man with his pet monkey Ampersand, who are left in the world after something that killed off every mammal that has a Y chromosome. The first three episodes of this series have two things in common and they are horrible pacing and overacting and the wonderful post-apocalyptic world.
The pacing and overacting is pretty bad here, while most of the cast does a fine job in their roles such as Diane Lane and Ashley Romans, there are others who I can’t enjoy when they are on screen and they are the ones who are overacting in a way to make up for something? For the pacing, I’ll make it simple, I almost fell asleep in each episode. The world is to be the best part of the series, they bring that world to life from the comic pages to a point.
In the end Y: The Last Man is ok for now, and maybe with time, it may grow on me. Other than that if you want to see a great live-action adaptation of a comic book series I would recommend watching Sweet Tooth.
