One of the best arcade racing games was released 40 years ago and that game is Hang-On.

Hang-On was developed and published by Sega and was created by Yu Suzuki, with Yoji Ishii helping with the design and Hiroshi Kawaguchi doing the composer with the use of rock music, which was unheard of at the time. The hardware that was used for the game was the Super Scaler aka the Sega Hang-On hardware, which would be later used on Space Harrier.

The gameplay basically lets the player ride a motorcycle in a race with a limited amount of time. What made Hang-On so memorable is the arcade machine was a full-on motorcycle with movement and everything.

The game was such a massive hit that a few years later Sega released Super Hang-On and that was a massive hit as well. Go take some time and play this important game and see what made Hang-On so special.
