What do you get when a beloved manga and anime series gets a modern-day facelift and gets a live-action film retelling, you get the Netflix film City Hunter and it’s not bad,

The film retells the “humble” sweeper Ryo Saeba, when someone needs help to fix, clean up, or get the job done by “any means”, you call Ryo Saeba at a Shinjuku Station with the letter “XYZ” written on a blackboard. After his partner is murdered, his partner’s sister Kaori becomes his new partner and they do their best to get the job done.

The cast of the film is great and the one who steals the show is Suzuki Ryohei who plays Ryo Saeba and every scene is a highlight reel. While the film will have some downtime and slow moments, overall the film is worth the watch and is a great entry point for anyone who has never seen and read City Hunter before if you like it, go watch and read the original series.

City Hunter is on Netflix now.
