1992 was a great year for gaming but more importantly in the arcade scene. Konami had a banger year in 1991 with the release of The Simpsons, Sunset Riders, Twinbee, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, many thought Konami would take it easy in 1992 but we were wrong.

X-Men: The Arcade Game was released in Japan in January 1992 and later in the rest of the world in March of the same year. The game was a beat’em up and had 3 different arcade cabinets that depending on the cabinet you can play up to 2,4, or 6 characters at the same time. The 6 player cabinet had two screens and it was epic.

The game is based on the short-lived 1989 X-Men series “X-Men: Pryde of the X-Men” and it was a smash hit. This was the first arcade game that made you feel like you were in a comic book adventure to save the world and still to this day there hasn’t been an arcade game like it since.

The game has aged well and was released in its arcade form via Arcade 1up and other devices and you should take some time to play this epic game.
