Ahoy Captain Cats here and here is some interesting news from a series which many, including myself, has said to be unadaptable in all forms of media and that series is Sandman by Neil Gaiman.
According to CBR that during an AMA session on Reddit Gaiman was ask if Sandman will be different from its comic book counterpart and Gaiman replied with they will follow the story to the letter.
The Sandman was created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringernberg and was introduced to the world on January 1989 till March of 1996 and was published by DC Comics and was the reason Vertigo was created in 1993. The series went on to become one of the most critically acclaimed and celebrated series in comic book and here are some examples:
- One of the first few graphic novels to be on the New York Times Best Seller List
- Was ranked 46 on Entertainment Weekly’s “100 best reads from 1983 to 2008”
- Issue 19 “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” won the 1991 Worlds Fantasy Awards for Best Short Fiction. Soon after they change the rules so that no other comic or graphic novel could be nominated for any award. Sandman was the first and only comic book to have won this award since 1991.
- The main and its spin-off series has won more than 26 Eisner Awards
It was announced earlier this year that Netflix will be working on the Sandman TV Series with Gaiman and no word yet on its release date.
