Ahoy me mateys Captain Cats here! Today we are going to review a new Netflix series that just came out over the weekend and its Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
This series is based on the comic series of the same name and is published at Archie Horror, an imprint of Archie Comics. The series is also a spin-off of current Archie comics TV series ‘Riverdale.’ This series follows Sabrina Spellman, a teenager who is half human and half witch lives with her aunts and cousin who are all witches themselves. Throughout the series, Sabrina tries to decide if she wants to be a witch or not and looking for answers not only which path to take but for herself as well.
The cast in the series is phenomenal, from the supporting to the main actors, they look like they lived in this world and we are all just here for the ride. Out of everyone, the who Spellman clan was great, but Lucy Davis and Miranda Otto as Aunt Hilda and Zelda were, to me a joy to watch. Chance Perdomo as Ambrose was perfect, he brought this character to life and I think he put a little bit of himself in as well. Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina was spot on and never missed a beat.
The setting of the series is in Greendale, sister town to Riverdale and it fits well with how dark the series can be at time. The only two things that I don’t like is that the show works great when its dark. I did get somewhat bored with the same school life and such, but when the series was going to its dark elements, that’s where it shines. The other thing is the pacing, at first it was somewhat slow but once it picks up, I didn’t mind the pacing and see why thay did it that way.
In the end, this is one of the best original series of 2018 on Netflix, and I hope they renew it for a second season. If you don’t have any plans for this Halloween, Watch this and enjoy your Halloween!
What do you think of this series? Did you like it or not? Let us know in the comments below!
I’ve been a fan of Kiernan Shipka since she was a child on Mad Men. I wondered how she’d make the transition to something like this, and I have to say, she’s brilliant in the part. This is not the Sabrina of the 90’s – cutesy and bright. The darkness is amazing in this one, and I find myself on the edge of my seat a lot. Well done for sure!
