The Walking Dead Final Issue Review

Ahoy Captain Cats here and today I’m going to review the final issue of one of the very few series that I can say, made a significant impact in not only in comics, but it also transcended into popular culture in its 16-year run, and that comic series is The Walking Dead.

The final issue picks up some time into the future where we see a zombie near a home on a hill and out of the blue we see it getting killed by none other than an older Carl Grimes who looks like is in his 30’s. From here on out we know a lot of characters that we see from the last few story arcs all older now and some even have children like Carl and Sophia. We also see how much has changed in their world from the time jump, from little to none zombies in the “safe zones,” to how far they are going out west to other “safe zones” and reconnect with others. While this is all great, some tend to think they are above the “law” of the land or try to disrespect the legacy that was left behind by Carl’s dad and the former main character, Rick Grimes.

After seeing what was going on in this issue, we get an ending that was fitting to the series and something I think longtime fans may or may not like due to how it just ended out of the blue. To me this was the ending I wanted to see, have been reading this series since day one till now, it has been a huge roller coaster ride that few series can deliver for almost 20 years. The only other series that I can think of would be Berserk by Kentaro Miura, and that series has been going on since 1989, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to end anytime soon.

The Walking Dead ended with a picture of Carl sitting in a rocking chair with his daughter reading a bedtime story about his dad, Rick and I think it’s an ending that Carl Grimes truly deserves.
