Well, it looks like Atari is making a comeback in the video game industry. With the release of both the Atari 2600+ and the Atari GameStation Pro, they are not done with making more news as they released a press release of their acquiring Digital Eclipse.

For many of you who don’t know, Digital Eclipse is responsible for game releases such as the Street Fighter: 30th Anniversary, Mega Man Legacy Collection, SNK 40th Anniversary Collection, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection, and most recently the Atari 50: The Anniversary Collection.

It looks like Atari is going all in with a retro-focused growth strategy and to me that is a very smart move on their behalf. With the age demo for Atari being around the 30-50 age range, they are going to focus on this age range, and with people who grew up with Atari, there is a lot of money to be made. We have to wait and see what they will do next and I for one can’t wait to see what they will do next.
