Last week the little fighting game that could SkullGirls turn 10 and this week we talk about its wonderful soundtrack that is one of the best in fighting game history.

This soundtrack is like the game itself, a love letter to jazz music and it sure does. The jazz music here flows so well with the game itself that I can’t see any other kind of music that can replace it. The quartet of composers for this project is Breton Kossak, Blaine McGurty, Vincent Diamante, and Michiru Yamane. All four put together a soundtrack that took the best from some of the jazz’s biggest artists such as Cab Calloway, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodmen, and Duke Ellington and added their own uniqueness to created this love letter to jazz music that can stand the test of time. If you need poof then listen to this.

While there was a physical CD release back in 2015, the soundtrack is available mostly via digital and sadly I don’t know if there was a vinyl release as well. To this day this soundtrack is still one of a kind and can hold its own with the best of them if you are a true jazz fan, please give this soundtrack a listen and you will thank me later. Hopefully, they can re-release it on vinyl and that would be a little slice of heaven to my ears.
