Ahoy Captain Cats here and today we are going to look at a series that was not only ahead of its time but considered one of the best-animated series that came out in the 90s and that series is Daria.

Daria was a spin-off series to MTV’s other animated series Beavis and Butt-Head that was created by Mike Judge. In that series, Daria puts the boys in their place with intelligence that she became a fan favorite and on March 3 1997 Daria graced us with her classic first episode “Esteemsters.” The series became an overnight hit and went on for 5 more seasons, 2 made for TV films and 2 specials till she and the rest of this series iconic cast said goodbye in January of 2002. Let us not forget the music for the series which was great but due to copyright issues for the home release of the series almost all of the original music used in the series was left out, all except the iconic into them “You’re Standing On My Neck” by Splendora.

What is there to say that hasn’t been said about Daria, the series like Daria herself was smart, funny, satirical, and overall showed everyone what it was like to be a teen in the 90s. While being an animated character, Daria was treated as if she was a real person and in an interview with CBS Early Show in 2002, she was asked if she still kept in touch with Beavis and Butt-Head, her response was as follow:

“I’d like to, but first they’d have to figure out that when the telephone makes that funny sound, you’re supposed to pick it up and say hello”. – Daria Morgendorffer 2002

Couldn’t have said it any better myself and here is a little something for those who want to know what made Daria such a one of a kind show.
