Ahoy Captain Cats here and today we are looking at what is quite possibly one of the best games that was ever made for the underrated Playstation Vita and showed what the system could do and that game was Gravity Rush.

The game was developed by now-defunct Japan Studio’s Team Gravity who was also known as Project Siren. The game was originally was going to be a Playstation 3 title back in 2008 with the name Gravite but was moved to the Vita and the name was changed to Gravity Daze in Japan and Gravity Rush for the rest of the world. The gameplay was unlike anything before it for the PSV, with the main focus being gravity manipulation, Team Gravity did a hell of a job with what they had to work with.

The game star Kat, a woman with amnesia and has the power to control and manipulate gravity around here, with the help of her pet cat. She sets off to not only help the people of Hekseville but to uncover her past and find out who she is.

The art style and world environment were inspired by the likes of Jean Giraud and Enki Bilal. The world of Gravity Rush had so much color and life that at times I would just like to fly around and see everything, from the sunrise on top of the highest point in the game to riding a minicab upside down and seeing the NPCs moving about is just breathtaking. The music was composed by Kohei Tanaka of Sakura Wars fame did a marvelous job here. The soundtrack itself is wonderful and we talk about it before on here and you don’t have to take our word for it.

The game was remastered and re-released on the Playstation 4 in 2015 to rave reviews and in 2017 Gravity Rush 2 was released on the PS4 as well. Sadly with Japan Studio gone and Team Gravity going on to create a new studio as Bokeh Game Studio, we may never see a part 3 to this underrated gem of a game and series. The game aged well and the gameplay is still fresh as it was ten years ago.
