Ahoy Captain Cats here and today we are going to look at the sequel that was way overdue and that game is Windjammers 2 and we had to ask, does it live up to the hype or not?

The game was developed and published by Dotemu, who co-created Streets of Rage 4 in 2020, bringing this hidden gem of a classic bak to life. The first game was created by Data East for the Neo Geo back in 1994, so almost 30 years to date. Windjammers 2 plays and feels like the first but added new stages, characters, and strategies that make this feel like the fighting game version of Pong.

While the arcade mode lacks a story, which is fine due to the first one didn’t either, the real highlight is the online play, it’s great, fast-paced, and lag-free. They took what made the first game great and made some minor fixes to it and you got a game that is easy to play, hard to master, and will be competitive just like fighting games. I wouldn’t be surprised if this will be in one of the big fighting game tournaments this year.

Windjammers 2 is out now on all gaming platforms and PC.
