Ahoy Captain Cats here and today some good news to fans of Bryan Lee O’malley’s classic graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the Netflix and UCP, a division of Univeral Studio Group are developing an anime series based on the beloved graphic novel. It is also reported that anime studio Science SARU, the studio behind DEVILMAN crybaby, The Heike Story, and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, will be doing the series with the studio CEO Eunyoung Choi being a producer and Abel Gongora will be directing the series.

The graphic novel series was published by Oni Press between 2004-2010 with a total of six volumes and became an indie phenomenon that would go on to be turned into a film in 2010 which recaps all six volumes. This is a great move by Netflix, having SARU doing the animation and making it into a series will show what made Scott Pilgrim a phenomenon and very dear to the many people who read the series back in the day.
