Yo Ho, WeRCatz here!

Beckett (2021), not to be confused with Becket (1964), was released on Netflix on August 13. It stars John David Washington, Boyd Holbrook, Vicky Krieps, and Alicia Vikander.

This film centers on an American tourist named Beckett (Washington) who finds himself running for his life after a tragic accident that left his girlfriend dead. All it took was Beckett telling the Grecian authorities about seeing someone at the crash site; that someone is involved with a major politician during the civil unrest in Greece.

This was an ok film. The hook of the film is that you don’t even know what kind of trouble Beckett got himself; Beckett and the viewer have no idea why until near the end. There’s a lot of uncertainty and confusion, but these form a good combination to keep the suspense going. Beckett’s character is shattered because he still feels guilt over his girlfriend’s death and yet he has no time to mourn as his life is in constant danger.

There may be some negative parts in this film but I can’t think of any here. I’d say go check Beckett out. It has a good story and leaves one asking questions.
