Ahoy Captain Cats here and today we are going to talk about Marvel Comics’ first family turning 60 and that family is the Fantastic Four.

The Fantastic Four was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and was released to the world in November of 1961. The comic book centers around four people who were exposed to cosmic rays while on a mission to outer space and they soon developed superpowers. These four people were Richard Reed, Susan Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm or better known as Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Human Torch, and The Thing.

What made The Fantastic Four so different from what was coming out at the time was the fact they were more human than most comic book characters during this time in history. They fight with one another, hold grudges towards one another, no matter how stupid the grudge is and they told the world who they are and not have a secret identity. Another thing this series had going for them is they introduced some of the most important characters in Marvel Comics such as Galactus, The Silver Surfer, re-introducing Namor The Sub-Mariner and one of the greatest comic book villains of all time and that villain is none other than Doctor Doom.

Over the years the Fantastic Four had numerous animated tv series, films that didn’t live up to any expectations whatsoever and the same can go for them in video games as well.

Here is to you Fantastic Four, for bringing us comic readers 60 years of great stories, an incredible cast of characters, and a villain who is still to this day as iconic as ever.
