Yo Ho, WeRCatz here!

The Brazilian comedy Get the Goat (Cabras da Peste) was released on March 18, 2021. It stars Edmilson Filho and Matheus Nachtergaele.

The film is a send-up of American action films and buddy films that deal with cops. Hell, even one of the protagonists’ names is Bruceuilis (pronounced Bruce Willis). Typical American tropes of comedy are hilariously thrashed at times as Bruce loses the police department’s cop goat called Celestina to an obvious-looking bad guy. Coming from a small countryside town called Guaramobim or Guara for short (not to be confused with the municipality of Guara in the northern part of the state of Sao Paulo, Brasil) Bruce travels to the city of Sao Paulo to track down Celestina while meeting Trinidade, a police officer who is more content to be doing desk work than facing violence. Together, they try to take down a drug lord known as White Glove.

I enjoyed this film. The parodies of films like Beverly Hills Cop, Bad Boys, and other similar films that star Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone are hilarious down to the Portuguese version of “The Heat Is On” during a chase scene that amounts to nothing.

Many tropes from action-comedy films are called out as Bruceuilis and Trinidade are NOT in those instances. Bruce is the action guy that fights crime using public transportation while Trinidade does everything he can to be violent as possible but fail comically. As for Celestina, she is along for the whole ride.

You can see this film on Netflix. There are talks of making a sequel to this film but right now it’s just speculation.
