Ahoy Captain Cats here and today we are going to talk about a very underrated character that turns 50 and that character is Swamp Thing.

Swamp Thing was created by writer Len Wein and artist Bernie Wrightson. The character’s first appearance was in House of Secrets issue 92 and it was a horror story that was set in the 20th century. Soon after his appearance, DC Comics gave the green light and he had his first series run from 1972 till DC canceled the series in 1976.

While Swamp Thing did come back with a second series in 1982, the first half of this run wasn’t so great or memorable, and DC was going to cancel this series run, that is till they let an unknown writer by the name of Alan Moore take over the series and the rest of history.

Over the years Swamp Thing has been around the DC universe and also played some important parts in some of the biggest storylines in DC Comic history. While he may have been forgotten over the year, it still good to give Swamp Thing the respect he deserves.
