Ahoy Captain Cats here and today we are going to look at the best that came out of anime in 2020.

Netflix
Netflix had a great year with its anime showcase this year. With the likes of Baki, Dorohedoro, BNA, and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2045 stood out from the rest this year. It took them some time but they have a great lineup this year and if they set themselves up with another good lineup as well, Netflix could be the next big thing for anime.

Kyoto Animation Grand Return
After the arson attack that shocked the anime industry last year, Kyoto Animation came back with the release of Violet Evergarden the Movie this year to very positive reviews. With next year’s release of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S, it is wonderful news to see Kyoto Animation making its grand return.

Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!
This year had its up and down in anime and while there were more downs than ups this year, there was one that stood out the most and we consider it to be this year’s best anime series in 2020 and that series is Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! The idea of how much work it takes to create an anime film and showing the audience what goes into it was a joy to watch. Director Masaaki Yuasa made you feel that you were in the process as well and the animation was one of the best and most original that came out of 2020.

Next week I will give you my take on anime in 2020.
