Ahoy Captain Cats here and today I’m going to review one of the best surprise horror films that came out this year and that film is #Alive.

The film is about a video game streamer name Joon-woo, who while his family is out and was about to stream finds out that there is a mysterious disease that turns uninfected people into some kind of zombie and attacks other people who are not infected. During this time he tries to survive this zombie outbreak, meets a female survivor name Kim Yoo-bin and they both must find a way to stay alive.

From beginning to end Alive is a roller coaster ride, you have crazy pace moments and slow down moments that work in this film favor. The slow down moments help set the tone and fear of what may or may not happen to Joon-woo and Kim Yoo-bin especially in the second half in the film. Yoo Ah-in and Park Shin-hye did a wonderful job playing as Joon-woo and Kim Yoo-bin respectively.

The film came out of nowhere and was released earlier this year just before the COVID-19 outbreak that hit South Korea and to this day is one of the highest-grossing films in South Korea in 2020 next to The Man Standing Next. #Alive just came out on Netflix and it is worth the watch for fans who love horror films, zombie outbreak films, and fans of another South Korean zombie outbreak series on Netflix, Kingdom.
