Ahoy Captain Cats here and today we are going to talk about a series that many people tend to forget and was the first series that put Akira Toriyama on the map and that series is Dr. Slump

Dr. Slump is a sci-fi comedy that was created by Akira Toriyama, yes the same creator of Dragon Ball series back in February of 1980 till the series ended in September of 1984. This series was Toriyama’s first hit series and rightfully so with the series plot that was funny in itself. The series is about an inventor named Senbei “Dr. Slump” Norimaki who is single and created what he thought was the world’s perfect little robot girl that can pass off as a real human girl. The result was Arale Norimaki, a little robot girl who has super strength, wears glasses, and is very naive and Senbie doesn’t know why she came out this way. The rest of the series we see what happens when Arale goes to school and makes new friends, see Senbie tries to create new inventions and fail grandly and are introduced to new characters and stories that were gut-busting funny.

The manga series also had a TV series that started on April 8, 1981 till its last episode on February 19, 1986 with a total of 243 episodes and they were great. After the TV series and manga ended the cast of Dr. Slump made cameos in Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Super in both the manga and TV series. While the series both manga and TV series were hits in Japan, the series became beloved in Mexico, Central, and South America. The series was the first wave of anime series that came to this part of the world and ended up being such huge hits that many people were inspired by this series and here is an example of that.

If you never heard of this series and or want to read something new and funny, give Dr. Slump a read and if you love it, watch the TV series and films.
