Ahoy Captain Cats here and today we have some news for you about two long-running series.

First is one of the longest TV animated series in Japan and that is Sazae-san. The series started as a Yonkoma manga or comic strip manga from April 22, 1946, till February 21, 1974, and has 45 volumes with over 10,000 comic strips. The TV series that is based on the Yonkoma manga series started back on October 5, 1969, and still on TV to this day. The only time it stop production of the series was back in 1975 for one month due to the rise of production cost. After that, the TV series would go on a 45-year run non-stop and always on TV until now. It was reported that the series has halted its voice recording sessions due to the Corona Virus situation in Japan. There is no word yet on when the series will be on hiatus.

Another series that is going to hiatus is the oldest manga running series still in publication is Takao Saito’s Golgo 13. The manga series was first introduced to the world back in October of 1968 and for the first time in its 52 years of publication the series is going on a hiatus due to the Corona Virus. In the series 52 years, Golgo 13 has had 2 live-action films, 1 animated film, an OVA, an anime TV series, and 6 video games.

Both series sums up to a total of 97 years worth of storytelling and entertainment.
