Ahoy Captain Cats here and today I’m going to tell you what I think about the Altered Carbon side story, Altered Carbon: Resleeved.

The film takes place on the planet Latimar and we see Takeshi Kovacs coming back in a new “sleeve” and he saves a young girl named Holly Togram and soon after being chased by both the CTAC and a group of assassins. During the attack, he teams up with Gena, the only member of the CTAC team that survived and they both agreed to be her bodyguard and they walk into the Wild Geese, the Mizumoto syndicate headquarters/ hotel. From here the film went a bit of everywhere and it took bits and pieces from other anime cyberpunk series and films such as Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Appleseed, Goku Midnight Eye and Blame! in terms of story, environment, look, feel, vibe and of course the action. The pacing and animation style is good, but at times kind of off and slow, which is alright for this type of story entry in a series such as Altered Carbon. I watch the film twice in both Japanese and English and I have to say if our going to watch this, watch this in Japanese because the English voice over is not that great and at times horrible.

Altered Carbon: Resleeved is a good OVA at best, it gets the job done by telling a side story that could fill in the blank from what could have happened between season 1 and 2, keeping the fan for the series and cyberpunk genre content.
