Today on hidden gems we are going to talk about a soundtrack that was years ahead of its time and since Halloween is tomorrow what better time to talk about the Dark Shadows TV Series Soundtrack.
Dark Shadow was an American Gothic soap opera that was on ABC from June 27, 1966, till April 2, 1971, with a total of 1,225 episodes aired. During the show entire run the music had to match the tone of how the series was paced and it helps that the music was dark, classical horror tone with a hit of the macabre.
The music for the series was created by Robert Cobert and the music of Dark Shadow broke new ground for TV music. Cobert was nominated for a Grammy for “Quentin’s Theme,” that peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 3 on the Billboard Its Easy Listening charts in the summer of 1969.
