Ahoy Captain Cats here and today some good news for anyone who has or hasn’t watch Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal.

According to Polygon that Primal is throwing its name in for the 2020 Oscar for Best Animated Feature Academy Award. Adult Swim, the adult-only programming block from Cartoon Network, put all five episodes together and a limited theatrical run in Los Angeles. The full title for the film is Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal- Tales of Savagery and it did meet the requirements to be in the running for the Oscar, the requirements were that the film had to be over 40 minutes long with a seven day run in LA.

Primal is one of 32 other animated films that is looking to be JUST nominated for the Oscars, from the 32 they must pick 5 and that is hard enough as it is. Other animated films that are in the same boat as Primal are:

  • The Addams Family
  • Netflix’s Klaus
  • Ne Zha
  • Promare
  • The Secret Life of Pets 2
  • Toy Story 2
  • Weathering with You

We just have to wait in January to see if it does get the nod or not.
