Ahoy me mateys Captain Cats here. With the 2019 Winter anime series reaching it’s halfway mark, now would be a great time to see which anime series that stood out from the rest of the pack.

Dororo – The remake of Osamu Tezuka’s manga and TV series of the same name has been a hit from day one. The beautiful animation, excellent voice acting, the tone and a soundtrack that pulls it all together, if you haven’t watch it, watch it now. This series is not for the little ones and those who can’t handle horror stories very well.

Boogiepop and Others – It’s been almost 20 years since Boogiepop Phantom anime series came out and it was worth the wait. If you were either a fan of the first series or supernatural horror, this series is a must watch. The one thing I would recommend before you watch this series is to take your time and if needed re-watch the episodes again if you missed out on any story plots.

My Roommate is a Cat – Every season will have that one anime that is darling to the world, and this one is it. The series is about an author who becomes a cat owner and treats the cat as a roommate. What makes this series pop is you see the same episode from two different points of views, a human and animal point of view.

The Magnificent Kotobuki – What do you get if you have WWII plans, a squadron of female fighter pilots, WWII dogfights and it all takes place in a spaghetti western setting, you get this great hidden gem of an anime. Unlike Girly Air Force, Kotobuki is better all around and worth the watch.

Saint Seiya: Saintia Shou – Saint Seiya: Saintia Shou is more like a side story to the original Saint Seiya, and I’m alright with it. This time around you see girls protecting Athena, and you look at some cameos from some of the saints from Saint Seiya. If you are a fan of the series and want to see what this is all about, give it a watch.

Even tho there is some time for other series and OVA to come out, these are the series that are worth watching so far.
