Ahoy me mateys Captain Cats here, and today I’m reviewing the 5th issue of Mirka Andolfo Unnatural. If you are wondering why in this month and not last month, it’s because in October was the end of the first story arc and in November Image Comics came out with a Graphic Novel which has the first four issues so I highly recommend getting it before reading this review.

So we left off with Leslie losing everything and is on the run from some cult. In the first opening pages, we see the landscape of New Roark and the police doing a roadside routine check. After a moment of suspense and order of noodles to the police, we know what’s really inside the delivery truck, and its Leslie with her pet and the wolf that haunts her dreams. After a moment of losing herself, we see what people were saying about here. We see the pig ‘Jones’ who was working with the head of the cult talking about how to deal with the ‘Leslie Blair’ situation and soon after we see Leslie waking up in something that came out of the Fallout series and with clothes that don’t fit her too well. She meets the wolf, whose name is Khal show her what he can do to the knife that Leslie was holding. As it turns out both Khal and Leslie both have blue blood and the truck driver who help them escape New Roark was there as well. Khal tells Saya, the driver name to take her to see Carol and talks about Tijoux and Khal’s pass.

Andolfo took her time with the pacing and the outline with the beginning of the second arc, and it shows. How little by little we see Leslie world not only turn upside down but how dark and full of mystery is has. The artwork and coloring are still on top form, especially with the Tijoux backstory. The color, setting, and backdrop were beautifully done, and you can’t help but feel sorry for Khal and his pass. I can’t wait to see what going to happen in the next issue.
