Ahoy me mateys Captain Cats here! Halloween, the holiday that I love with a passion and more than Xmas, turkey day and summer combine. Halloween is just a few weeks away, and somehow I can’t get into it this year. Is it me or has Halloween lost it luster? For the past few years, the holiday had been more and more commercialized, and it doesn’t feel like how it once was, which was spooky, fun, an absolute blast and tons and tons of candy! In 2018 now it is not the same, gone are the scary, creepy fun, the Halloween ambiance, and joy of what make Halloween so unique. Another thing that I have noticed is that it is getting more and more expensive with the candy, costume, the décor, and set up one’s place has lost its appeal as well.

Don’t get me started about going out and enjoying yourself, that also cost you money. Here in San Diego, the place to be is in Downtown but it even the most expensive place to be at during Halloween. Sure it does have the Halloween vibe, but once you see the cover cost, the prices for everything and finding good parking and UBER and such will add up like crazy.

In the end, Halloween has lost it luster in every shape and form. Also, no, Dia De Los Muertos is not “Mexican Halloween,” I’ll be talking about that next week. I guess I’ll spend it the only way I can, eat tons of candy from around the world, order some pizza and watch the one person who makes every day Halloween for me, Elvira in Elvira’s Movie Macabre. I wonder what’s her take on Count Dracula’s Great Love?
