Ahoy Me Mateys Captain Cats here! So this morning I woke up to look at my news to see this: Morbius the Living Vampire may be on his way to the big screen, so hooray? For those of you know don’t know who he is; I’ll give you a mini history of this vampire.
Marvel introduces Morbius in The Amazing Spider-Man #101 of October 1971, in which Spider-Man and Morbius fight each other and at the same time helps Dr. Connors AKA the Lizard stay human. Also, this was part of the Six Arm Saga in which Spider-Man had six arms, so ya lets move on. Morbius was created by writer Roy Thomas and penciler Gil Kane. From then on out Morbius has been on come adventures such as fighting the X-Men, joining the Legion of Monsters, being cured for some time and Spider-Island to name a few.
Now we got the mini history lesson out of the way; let’s get back to the news. According to CBR, Sony wants to expand its Spider-Man universe in the same way they did with the upcoming Venom movie. To read more of this click on the link here.
now here are my two bits on this.
I like Morbius, he has a fascinating backstory and has been around for 47 years, so there is a lot of good story plots to pick from. My main issue with Morbius is that it has to be some horror story to make him work on the big screen. Also, I think a PG-13 rating wouldn’t do him justice at all, look what Deadpool can do with an R rating, Morbius needs to be an R rated movie for him to shine! I don’t want to walk the plank when it comes to who should be who because this is all still a rumor, and who knows if Sony wants to do this movie then I’m ok with it, but it has to be done right!
If you want The Nightrider and I do an in-depth history of Morbius the Living Vampire, or any comic book hero or villain let us know!
