Alita: Battle Angel is a hit and miss at the Box Office

Ahoy me mateys Captain Cats here. This weekend Alita: Battle Angel was the number one movie this pass weekend, but at a lost.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the film only brought in $41.7 million at the domestic box office. That’s not bad if it was mid to low budget film, Alita: Battle Angel cost over $200 million to produce and this doesn’t include marketing.

The overseas market doesn’t look great as well. Box Office Mojo also reported that with last week it made $94.3 million, this week it opens in ten other countries and just made $14.75 million, which brings the total to $150.75 million worldwide. Box Office Mojo also reported that the film needs to make $500-550 million worldwide JUST to break even and next weekend the film will open in Japan and China, so if it doesn’t do well there than this film is a total flop and brings up the question WHY it was a flop.

That is a question that only time will tell if it ever feels like answering that question.
